On Sunday, October 21, 2012, the American Culinary Federation of SW Michigan gathered together for a fundraiser event, "Mad Men" seven-course dinner, at the CityScape Event space in Downtown Kalamazoo. Seven of the most talented chefs in SW Michigan, each presenting their own specialty course paired with the Traveling Elixir Fixer's signature cocktail creations. Net-Proceeds benefited the following culinary programs: Education For Employment in the Culinary Arts, Kalamazoo County; Calhoun Area Career Center, Battle Creek; Van Buren Technology Institute, Lawrence; Michigan Career and Technical Institute, Plainwell; and the Branch Area Careers Center, Coldwater.

The American Culinary Federation of SW Michigan's mission is to produce Culinary Professionals, by mentoring and tutoring, stagings and job shadows, apprenticeships and scholarships. With various incentives, from time to time, for any of its membership who achieve any of the various levels of certification as set forth by the American Culinary Federation. The Federation also promotes the culinary arts and promotes and acknowledges professionalism in all culinarians. They also promote and support the production and use of true foods and drinks; fair trade and local, fresh and organic, sustainable, whole, and unadulterated. They support comaraderie and fellowship among culinarians and to initiate and engage in joint and cooperative efforts as well as promote and support community and regional programs in the culinary arts whether elementary, secondary, post-secondary, or non-traditional. Membership is provided with regular opportunities for continuing education and for professional development.
