Hillbilly Fillies and Fizzes:
A Celebration of the
Pioneering Women in Country Music and Cocktails
Monday, May 14, 2012
7:00pm - 9:00pm
The Elixir Show comes to Old Dog Tavern for cocktails and a celebration of the Hillbilly Fillies! Mixologist Angie Jackson, the Traveling Elixir Fixer, will hang her hat with us for a spell and create signature cocktails inspired by the ladies who pioneered the trail of country music.
Just like music, cocktails have structure, balance, layers of enjoyment, rhythm and harmony components, and quite often evoke fond memories. Angie has created five cocktails for you to sample, and you will take home the recipes that are inspired by the musical stylings of The Carter Family, Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris.
Join us for an evening filled with whiskey, women, history and song. Angie will demonstrate how to create these tantalizing elixirs that will include the “Wildwood Flower Power Elixir” featuring Michigan’s own W.R. White Rye Whiskey (Journeyman Distillery, Three Oaks, MI), the smoky flavorings of blended scotch whisky in the “Coal Miner’s Daughter”, true Americana with the bourbon-based “Wayfaring Stranger”, Delilah’s Slap ‘n Tickle with white rye whiskey and orange/honey/sage syrup and we will finish the evening with “Walking After Midnight Fizz”, featuring Jack Daniels and Ginger Blackberry syrup. Angie will share everything you ever wanted to know about cocktail entertaining at home, including inside tricks used in the Chicago beverage industry.
$30.00/person - call Old Dog Tavern at (269) 381-5677 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve your spot.
Cocktails featured during the class will be available for purchase afterwards as a special signature drink menu for the evening. Pass this along to friends who want to experience a multi-sensory event filled with liquid "art." CHEERS!
