Edibles and Elixirs: A Spirited Dinner

Join Chef Eric Boodt and The Traveling Elixir Fixer for an evening of frivolous fun, exquisite edibles and elixirs in the back elixir bar at OLD DOG TAVERN, Thursday, September 26, 7:00pm - 9:00pm. Four courses, four cocktail pairings, $45.00/person. Tickets may be purchased at Old Dog Tavern (now accepting major credit cards).


First Course:
Crisp Apple and Goat Cheese Tartlet paired with the savory Glass Onion Cocktail (London Dry Gin, Apple Cider Vinegar infused with pears, shallots and ginger, lemon juice, Angostura Bitters and recently featured in the Fall Issue of Edible Michiana.)

Second Course:
Seared Scallops served on a bed of creamed corn with smoked pork cracklings paired with the Bird Dog Sour (Bourbon, Vanilla Maple Simple Syrup, Egg White, Black Strap Bitters, Fresh Lemon Juice)

Third Course:
Pork and Sweet Potato Dumpling with green onion and a balsamic drizzle paired with the Figment of the Botanical Imagination Elixir (London Dry Gin, Ginger Syrup, Fig Balsamic and a splash of lemon juice)

Fourth Course:
Poached pear served with a drizzle of caramel, bleu cheese crumbles and candied walnuts paired with the Sour Mash Sangria (Jack Daniels Tennessee Sour Mash Whiskey, Cabernet Sauvignon, Angostura Bitters, Lime Juice)

Chef Eric Boodt comes to Old Dog with extensive culinary creativity. After spending six years in the South Haven culinary circle, Eric spent the next four years as Sous Chef at Oakwood Bistro. Eric became the Sous Chef at The Park Club for the next year and is currently restructuring the menu at Old Dog Tavern. He has participated in Chef's Against Hunger Charity Event, the Girl Scout Cookie Challenge, Gumbo Cook Off and recently paired with The Traveling Elixir Fixer for the Eat, Drink, and Give Fundraiser held at the Radisson Plaza Hotel for Volunteer Kalamazoo.

Angie Jackson, a/k/a "The Traveling Elixir Fixer" began her bar career in 1996 and has created, designed and executed cocktails for numerous distillers, distributors, bars, restaurants and spirited events in the greater Chicago area and SW Michigan. She has consulted with top global spirit brands as well as small, artisan-crafted distillers throughout the Midwest. She returns to Kalamazoo after spending almost 13 years in Chicago's Mixology and Culinary Circuit. Formerly an adjunct professor at Chicago's Kendall College, Angie instructed HOS 123 (Mixology) offered through the Culinary Arts, Food and Beverage and Hospitality Departments and was the Festival Mixologist for the Chicago Food Film Festival held at Kendall College in 2009 and 2010. She was also the Resident Mixologist at Cooking Fools in Wicker Park, Chicago, and Flavour Cooking School in Forest Park, where she instructed a series of Mixology classes for home entertainment. Angie can be found in the back elixir bar at Old Dog Tavern Mondays and Wednesday through Friday evenings beginning at 5:00pm.
